Why do some watches make ticking sound? Know the science behind it

Many people are fond of wearing watches. But more than a hobby, watches are an integral part of our lives. Because watches tell time and without time our lives will stop. But do you know why there is a ticking sound in both wrist and wall clocks? Today we will tell you what is the reason behind this.

Watch

Nowadays, most people like to wear smart watches and also put smart watches on the wall at home. But still, there are watches in almost every house which make a ticking sound. Now the question is why do watches make a ticking sound? Actually, ticking is the sound of two forks of the balance wheel hitting the rotating wheel alternately in watches. Let us tell you that the needle has two ghats, which are in different directions. When it moves forward for one second or one minute, it leaves one ghat and sits in the other ghat. In such a situation, it continuously hits the round wheel, which produces sound.

This ticking sound is technically called the sound of escapement. When you open the watch and see, the wheel that rotates is called the escape wheel. Its speed of rotation is controlled by the two forks of the upper balance wheel. Apart from this, the yellow wheel below is connected to the rest of the hands of the watch, and in this way the time of hours, minutes and seconds is controlled.

New clocks don’t tick

Today some digital clocks also make noise like pendulum clocks. But their noise is not so much. Today there are many such clocks in the market which run without any noise. However some clocks make a very little noise. Whereas in wall clocks this noise is very loud. Apart from this, in some new technology smart watches there is no noise at all.

. Because the technology of the new technology smart watches is not based on wheels. Rather, the new technology smart watches are digital. Similarly, wall clocks have also become digital, in which the needle does not move. It only tells the time in numbers. These watches work exactly like the smart watches worn on the hand work.
